When I read the poetry of the Montserrat Abelló I thought that it was, with its form and essence, what I wanted to express for … of course, much more is well said!!! The concise, sincere words and full of true feelings, of lived emotions, of real colors. “How lucky, I thought, I can express myself with complete freedom and with a woman’s voice in the broadest and most precious sense of the word!”. From here was born the ‘Suite Abelló’ and so many other themes, a set of poems that I kept as treasures and that allow me to speak-sing-feel love, desire, art, commitment … in short: life.

Every word, every verse of the Montserrat is pure sincerity. So much so, that many of the music I have composed for her poems seem to me to be able to be said only like this, in this way, (…) for me it has been a magical and totally “organic” creation. A gift.

But of course, the greatest gift was meeting, a few years ago, the creator of those words chained and woven with threads of wisdom, having the poet who created these mosaics of love close to me. The affinity was immediate and the appreciation grew without diminishing, a precious understanding and great admiration on my part to discover such a vital, generous and thirsty person for truth. It has been a luxury to generate and share a series of duet performances where Montserrat recited as only she knew how to do and I sang her poems in the best possible way. What a joy to go bowling together! Thank you Montserrat, I have felt lucky to have you close by.

The story of PATUFET is known to all of us, it is part of the family, and on this occasion our little protagonist will take us on a journey through other cultures, through other playful and mischievous sounds. He is a friendly Patufet who always wants to discover new things.

UN PATUFET QUE SONA is a proposal based on the traditional Catalan tale aimed at the youngest members of the family with the voice of the singer and creator Mariona Sagarra accompanied on the guitar and mandola by Raül Costafreda and the always suggestive animated illustrations of the painter Perico Pastor that will detail some songs that children probably already know and other sounds where vocal improvisation and the richness of sound make Patufet a little-big boy with a lot of life.

Three musicians perform a repertoire made up of traditional Catalan songs and contemporary music and create, with the help of recorded sounds, sound environments specially designed for babies. At the same time, a dancer with a large rag doll shows the audience various actions that each parent can do with their child during the audition: swinging, caressing, playing lap games, massages, etc.

This DVD is a tool to facilitate musical activity in the family and from a very young age (for babies from 3 to 10 months). Each song, each action and each sound environment have been specially selected to promote a positive effect of music on children.

The new music, the traditional sounds, the melody popular and themes inspired by poems by authors Catalans are present in Frec a Frec. In this heterogeneous and plural repertoire, he combines impressionist songs and other more popular with topics that approach the jazzy sound​ and there improvisation​ more avant -garde.

Mariona Sagarra establishes a complicity between these styles, recreates them and combines them in a very personal interpretation.

MARAM TRIO is a research formation of a new sound linking the most ancestral melodies with the most contemporary harmonies and with improvisation, giving it a creative touch.

The work we have carried out Maram Trio  in recent years it has been combine some ancestral melodies -traditional and from the Middle Ages- with improvisation and contemporary harmonies , thus giving them a particular creative touch. Each of us three, with our specialties and artistic paths , have had to put together a repertoire that did not exist before in a group like this and, based on research and working on it, we believe that we have managed to offer an original sound. Despite being small in size, this project to trio It has been a long journey and has allowed us to have a great complicity between us. That is why, after all these years, we decided to present SOUND with a selection of the songs we have been offering at our concerts.

In the year 2012, The MNAC invites Maram Trio to put music to the exhibition “Catalonia 1400”, where they find the natural balance between the language of medieval music ( Ars nova and Ars subtilior ) and the most current improvisation and counterpoint performed with instruments of the era.

LENT, LENT… CORRENT! THE TEMPERAMENTS OF THE VOICE are the confluence of diverse worlds, of internal dynamics, of possible combinations, improvisations and surprises, of timbres and emotions.

This is the result of a path I started some time ago on the study of musical and sound vibrations in various feelings. From the most everyday reactions or impulses to the most extreme situations and sensations . A work that, among other things, has led me to know the music and songs from other cultures, to delve into both mystical, ritual or festive experiences, as well as the purest avant – garde creation and improvisation. So, with this album I wanted to find a way to express them, giving each of them their own identity as I understand them, as I live them. In the most stripped-down and intense way possible.

LENT, LENT… CORRENT! It revolves around some temperaments and life situations expressed in the voice, in the magic of words, the sound and the power of music. I like sobriety and joy, beauty, versatility and risk… experimenting. Doubt, fear, patience, complicity, love, the passage of time, death, desire, dreaming… are states of presence of this constant and exciting pulse that shapes our being, that builds our life. These are some of “my” temperaments of the voice.

Dies diferents is a collection of memories, travels and acquaintances with places and people. It is a musical distillation created over time and nourished with the appreciation of each of the topics presented. Authors such as J.Brel, Vanica Doble, Amalia Rodríguez, popular themes and the singer’s own compositions are present in the work of Mariona Sagarra.

The relationship that is established between each of the pieces draws a broad mosaic of stories and emotions, stills of essences, a dialogue of cultures, geographies, human maps and landscapes. Diverse worlds, with sounds tinged with tradition but dressed in our current times.
