The song of the SIBYL

Since 2013, Mariona Sagarra has performed this ancient song in Catalan every Christmas Eve.
The Sibyls: Oracles, special women with the ability to predict and prophesy future events based on the interpretation of particular situations. The Sibyla, grandmother or priestess who is attributed to a prophetic spirit: among them, we find the Sibyl · la Eritrea who announced the day of the Final Judgment and the arrival of the Savior.
“Since 2018 I have had the invaluable collaboration of the poet, writer and in this case also narrator Eduard Escoffet, who puts us in context of what this voice means on this unique night and links it to such current issues as the climate crisis and the limits of the anthropocene. With him we have been growing this project , which I had initially started completely alone with the interpretation from the first day on the organ by the organist Joan Cabó ”
She sang this Canto in the show LLÀGRIMES D’ÀNGEL by the choreographer Sol Picó, she replaced Maria del Mar Bonet at the Church of Bonanova. She has been invited to sing with the COR POLIFONIC DE L‘ALGUER in Sardinia and tour Italy in 2023, and in the MIL SIBIL·LES project by Maria Arnal, at the POETAS festival in Madrid and to collaborate with Xamfrà and the Casal d‘infants del Raval every Christmas Eve at the Church of Sant Pau del Camp in Barcelona.
